Auckland pair wins yachting

Colin and Paul Mutter (Auckland) gained line honours in three of the four heats to win the first New Zealand open Rothmans Father and Soo class yachting ehainMonship at the Waimakariri club fast week-end. The only actual father-and-son combination in the contest, they had a third placing in. the other race to be decisively ahead of their rivals in overall standings. A Mt Pleasant crew. Hank Van der Velden and Lindsay Fraser, switched from the Sunburst class to gain second overall and win the South Island title. They were first home in the second heat.

Third over all went to the seasoned Waimakariri pairing of Andy Holland and Shane Adams, ahead of their club-mates, Trevor Ballard and Paul Holland.
