National nominations
Nominations for National Party candidates in Papanui and Lyttelton will open today; ■ - - . These are two or six Christchurch seats for which National has still to find candidates for this year s General Election. Both seats are held by Labour members of Parliament — Papanui by Mr M. K. Moore, and Lyttelton by Mrs Ann Hercus. Nominations will close on April 13, and dates have yet to be set for selection meetinss- . Nominations will also be
called soon for National candidates in the West Coast, Tasman, Nelson, and Timaru electorates.
Labour has chosen its candidates for all Canterbury seats except Ashburton, which is held by a National member Mr R. L. G. Talbot. Labour’s candidate in the 1978 election, Mr A. J. Srhoy, is not expected to stand again this year, and another potential candidate, Mr D. S. McKenzie, is believed to have decided not to contest the nomination.
