Award for hangar work
A Wellington firm has won an engineering award for its work on the Air New Zealand No. 1 hangar at Christchurch Airport. ! Messrs J. P. Rollings. L. G. Cormack, R. J. Holbrook and ; V. Jowsey, of Beca Carter j Rollings and Ferner, Ltd, are
the recipient? of the 1981 Award of Merit from the Association of Consulting Engineers. New Zealand. a ’ * The association presents the award annually for design and engineering projects considered outstanding. The ’Christchurch hangar "in-
volved an unusually wide range of technical, design and project management skills,” the judges said. Air New Zealand has for the last three years used the hangar as a maintenance base for overhauls and day-to-day fleet repairs on its Boeing 737 s and Fokker F 27
Friendships. It is also used for outside-charter overhaul work.
Messrs Rollings. Holbrook and Jowsey attended a brief ceremony ’at the hangar, a brass plaque depicting the award was unveiled by Mr C. W. Mace, chairman of Air New Zealand.
