Shirdale Cup golf to Christchurch
Christchurch had its third win in as many conteata for the Shirdal.e Pup when it decisively beat Avondale, 12-3, in their annual inter-club golf match at Avondale yesterday. Such an easy -win did not look likely after the morning foursomes. All five matches went to the last green, Christchurch winning 3J-IJ.
However, the Christchurch team proved too strong in the singles, winning the top eight matches. It was left to the bottom Avondale paid, John Alexander and Tim Langan, tri salvage some success ' for their team.! Alexander beat Donald Hope. 2 up, and Langan halved with Maicolm Cummack. > .
