Embassy attack
NZPA San Salvador More than a dozen men operating in three groups attacked the United States Embassy in San Salvador with a rocket grenade and small-arms fire yesterday, American diplomats said. They reported no injuries, but substantial damage in the third strike at the embassy this month. The Leftist guerrilla group Popular Liberation Forces later - claimed responsibility for the attack in telephone calls to local radio stations.
Earlier, the corpses of 38 victims of terrorism were found alongside El Salvador’s streets and roads. as the Roman Catholic Church and the Leftist guerrillas observed the first anniversary of the assassination of the Archbishop of San Salvador, Oscar Romero.
