Journalist dead
PA Wellington A veteran journalist, Mr Garth Roydhous e, died at his Wellington home on Friday.He was 69. Educated in Wairarapa, Mr Roydhouse worked on the “Dominion” in Wellington and on the Manawatu “Evening Standard” before spending 16 years in the Parliamentary Press Gallery for the New Zealand Press Association. He was chairman of the gallery in 1949. He also covered S.E.A.T.O. and Colombo Plan confer-
ences for the New Zealand Press Association, and reported the Royal tour by the Queen and Prince Philip in 1953-54. ’ Mr Roydhouse had also been managing editor of the “Westport News” and editor of the “New Zealand Financial Times ” and a sub-editor on the “Marlborough Express.” A one-time editor of the 2nd N.Z.E.F.’s “Kiwi News,” he served with the 27th (Machine Gun) Battalion during World’ War 11.
