Special DC10 for Japanese

A long queue of Japanese tourists wanting to come to New Zealand has prompted Air New Zealand to begin its DCIO services a week early, according to the airline.

A 270-seater DCIO will leave Auckland for Tokyo on Friday and return on Sunday. It will replace the 127-seater DCB which has flown the route since the service began in August. The airline’s deputy commercial manager. Mr R. Keenan, said the DCS could not cope with the bookings from mostly Japanese passengers. The bigger aircraft would also allow the airline to introduce films and music programmes on the route. Air New Zealand has also appointed a company. World Travel Services, to represent it in Thailand. The airline does not get much business from Thailand, and it hopes to increase its business by 40 per cent during the next year.
