PA Nelson A “buffer zone” of rugby club members will be arranged round Trafalgar Park on August 22 as part of security moves to keep protesters away from the Spring-bok-Nelson Bays match. “We are looking for a peaceful day. HART has said it will cause no violence but if anybody in any rugby crowd creates trouble it will be the loser in any sense,” safti the chairman of the Nelson Bays Rugby Union, Mr Charles Cowman, yesterday.
However, Mr Cowman is confident there will' be no trouble in Nelson “unless outsiders arrive.” *& Although the police have discussed security plans; for thj Springbok tour with; the New Zealand Rugby Union, they deny being involved in th§ “buffer zone” 'seating plan. Superintendent G. W. Wilson, attached ,to the operational directorate at Police Headquarters in Wellington, said, “We have .made no recommendation as to. how individual unions distribute tickets to matches.”
