Delightful Lady to race at Forbury

Special Correspondent Auckland A race at Forbury Park has been added to Delightful Lady’s programme for the remainder of the season. The champion pacer was to have had only two more starts this term, in the North island Standardbred Breeders Stakes at Alexandra Park on April 10 and the Easter Cup at Addington eight days later.

Her connections have changed their minds after an approach by the Forbury Park Trotting Club to run her at its meeting on April i “It is a $7OOO rac° over : 3200 m,” Delightful Lady’s trainer, Michael Stormont, said yesterday. “We are keen to take it lon for several reasons.” He said that after the Easter Cup there weald be no suitable races for Delightful Lady in the North Island] during the rest of the sea-j son. |

“Christchurch is not that far from Dunedin,” he said, “and it would be good experience for her to go on to Forbury Park.”

He said that it had been decided to have “another shot” at ’he New Zealand T/ctiing C up. The decision followed Delightful Lady’s reassessment to 20m for open-class distance racing. Her connections had thought she would be on at least 25m according to Stormont.

“An extended South Island trip sh-iuic help her to travel better and settle in more readily in strange surroundings.” Vorb.iry Park have also issued an invitation to the Cleved-ii owner-trainer, Max Robioon. to race his horse,
