Sporting contacts with South Africa
Sir,—ln “The Press’’ today Ms Pauline Mackay outlines some 41 events in which New Zealanders have had sporting contacts with South African counterparts. She goes on to say that this may not be the complete list and in this she is probably correct From this list, one factor is patently obvious: these events are held at international level in countries which are signatories to the Gleneagles Agreement as well as other countries in the world. From this one may readily infer that internationally the world prefers sporting contacts with South African citizens and the opportunities for such contacts are increasing. The question one may very well ask is, what on earth is all the fuss about.?—Yours, etc., McGREGOR L. SMITH. March 23, 1981.
