Book ' a fine tribute’
The fruit of four years work by a -team of volunteers, a 779-page volume marking the centenary of ry of Christchurch Boys’ High School, was presented to the school’s headmaster, Mr I. D. Leggat, yesterday. The centennial celebrations will be held from May 7 to May 11. Making the presentation, the Dominion president of the Old Boys’ Association, Mr G. L. Bradbury, said the book was “a fine tribute to a great school.” Mr Leggat said that it would be added to a- dis-
tinguished collection of books in his study by, or about, old boys. The chairman of the editorial committee, Mr A. T. Campbell, said the school was fortunate in having been able' to draw on the professional services of a team of old boys. He praised in particular the editorial work of Mr A, R. Cant, a former editor of "The Press”. “We would never have got this far without a man of his calibre and integrity behind us,” Mr Campbell said. Mr Cant extended his ap-
preciation to the many people who had helped. The book revelaed the very significant influence of the school on the community, an aspect which had made his job most satisfying, he said. Other members of the editorial committee were Messrs W. J. A. Brittenden, M. P. Whatman, L. R. Bloxham, G. C. Siatter, C. F. S. Caldwell, and V. F. Wilkinson. The book, “The Years Between”. will be sent to all old boys who have registered for the centennial celebrations..
