Description of vermin
Sir,—On Friday, February 27, you printed an article by Mr J. B. Hutton, who is a •veterinary investigation officer with the Ministry of Agriculture at Lincoln, on an outbreak of foot and mouth disease which occurred in Britain in 1967. I found this article very interesting, but I was disturbed and angered by the last sentence of it. It reads: “Vermin like cats and rabbits could be responsible for spreading the disease.”,! find it hard to think of rabbits as vermin and cats certainly are not. I am surprised that any responsible veterinarian should have made such a statement. — Yours, etc.,
