Collision at bridge
State highway 73 to Greymouth was blocked for about an hour and a half yesterday afternoon after a car and truck collided headon - at the Porter River bridge. The driver of the car, William Thorpe, of Cass Bay, Lyttelton Harbour, was reported in a satisfactory condition in Christchurch Hospital last evening. No condition was available for Miriam Thorpe, in Burwood Hospital. A passenger in the car, Edna Wright, of Lyttelton, was reported in a comfortable condition at Princess Margaret Hospital, as was the driver of the truck, Andrew Grigg, of Hokitika.
