Club strikes cancelled
Employees of chartered clubs in Christchurch and .other main centres will not continue their • strike on Friday and Saturday, the Hotel Workers’ Union has decided. Chartered clubs were disrupted by a strike last Friday and Saturday, but on Mpnday the conciliator in the award talks, Mr L. Fortune, called the union and the employers to conciliation on March 12 and asked that normal work resume in the interim.
The secretary of the Canterbury Hotel Workers’ Union, Mr G. D. Harding, said that the union would advise its members to resume normal work.
