iNZPA-Reuter New York Two American women, Francie Larrieu and Chandra Cheeseborough, broke their own world records for the! indoor two miles and 220] yards respectively at United States indoor afa-| letics championships in Newl York on Saturday (N.Z.' time). ] Eamonn Coghlan (Ireland) I missed equalling the record | for the three miles by just I 0.25. Larrieru won the two miles in 9min 38.15. breaking her previous mark of 9min 39.4 s set in 1974. Cheeseborough ran the 220 yards in 23.275, bettering the time of 23.56 s she had set a few hours earlier in a heat. Her old record was 23.93 s set in 1979. ‘
