A conference devoted to Commonwealth literature, with special emphasis on modern writing from the South Pacific, is being held at the University of Canterbury in May. The conference is the second of its kind organised by the South Pacific Association for Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies, and is the first such conference held in New Zea-
