25-hour yacht race

The end of daylight saving this week-end has 'turned what was to have been a 24hour Trailer Sailer yachting event at Lyttelton into an even longer marathop. Crews and boats are scheduled to be under sail from noon tomorrow until noon on Sunday, but the time adjustment means that the race will actually last for 25 hours* The event will begin with a course to Port Levy and return, but the fleet will be

restricted to the harbour proper and special safety regulations will be enforced during the hours of darkness. Entries do not close until the briefing of crews this morning, although organisers hope that numbers will be at least up to the 20 boats which 'took part last year. The prize for line honours will be won by the crew covering the greatest distance and a handicap result will also be calculated.
