General forecast: An anti-cyclone moving away east of New Zealand is being replaced by anothei anti-cyclone spreading on to the South Island from the Tasman Sea. District forecasts: Canterbury: Mainly cloudy and cool with some drizzle about the coast; fine periods inland during the day.

Nelson: Fine and mild. Marlborough: Cloudy and cool along the coasts with some drizzle, persisting on the Kaikoura Coast; mainly fire inland, and mild in

the afternoon. Buller Westland: Fine with light winds; warm in the

afternoon. Outlook: Drizzle on the east coast of the South Island; fine elsewhere.
