Australian market steady
Share prices were steady on Australian stock, exchanges in quiet trading with a strong industrial sector, buoyed by higher retail shares, offset by lower resource stocks particularly B.H.P. and C.S.R. The Australian all-ordi-naries index rose 0.2 point to 652.1 the industrial index was 4.2 points higher at a year high of 688.5, and the all-resources was down 3.1 to 623.2. Among retailers to rise were Woolworths, 6c to 207 c after 1980 profit up 21 per
cent In the latest year Coles 5c to 260 c after record December-half proriis, and Myers, 8c to 190 c in expectation of higher results. Hardest hit in the resources sector were B.H.P. which fell 25c to $13.25, and C.S.R., 10c lower at 363 c; metal miners were narrowly mixed.
