Scottish bid improves
NZPA-Reuter Ramat Gan, Israel Scotland stepped up its bid to qualify for the World
Cup soccer finals in Spain next year when it beat Israel, 1-0, yesterday. A second-half goal by Kenny Dalglish clinched vic-
tory in this European group six clash and lifted the Scots into second place in the five-team section. The leader, Portugal, ha s five points from three games and although Scotland has a similar record it is second because of an inferior goal difference.
