I All banks will be open today as members of the Bank Officers’ Union pause in their campaign of rolling stoppages over their pay jdispute. I Union delegates met last jevening and more meetings I are expected to be held jtoday to review counter-pro-i posals put by the Bankers’ Association yesterday after the union had earlier put conciliatory proposals to the association. If the union rejects the counter-proposals, a two-dayj
strike by union members in; all trading banks and thej Databank, Visa, and Bank-i card centres will be held to-' rrow.and on Friday. ;

In its proposals, the union (has offered to reduce its pay 'claims [ When conciliation talks broke down early this month the banks had "rejected the union’s claim for a 14 per cent pay rise and an additional 6 per cent work-value claim for skills and experience.
The claim was intended to compensate bank officers for what it said were more complex and difficult tasks being faced.
