‘Secret Army’ exposure
“Secret Army” is based on the work of the Belgian organisation which during World War II helped allied servicemen to escape from the Germans. In the last series Albert Foiret’s restaurant was destroyed. Now he has opened a new and. far more splendid establishment in the Grand Place of Brussels. The clientele consists in the main of German officers and black marketeers, and on the first night Major Brandt and Sturmbannfuhrer Kessler are honoured guests. The- restaurant is, of course, an ideal listening post for the underground movement. . This new series opens
with Yvette stilt in charge, but later Albert' takes her place. The organisation needs a new forger to provide papers for the escapers, and the friendly Belgian police recommend Max Crocard, a night club pianist. But Max is not a simple patriot. He is a Communist, determined to take over the organisation. By the end of this series it is June, 1944 — the month of the Allied landings in Europe. -The first series of “Secret Army” attracted a strong following and the second series is expected to do well. The actors include Bernard Hepton, Michael Culver, Jan Francis and Angela Richards. ' » '
