No greyhound commentaries
There will be no live commentaries of the four Canterbury regional heats of. the Trans Tasman greyhound series at Queen Elizabeth II l?ark on February 18. A- report in yesterday’s edition of “The Press” stated that a network of private radio stations would carry commentaries. These would have been heard in Christchurch, Hamilton, Auckland,’ Otago, Bay of Plenty and Wellington, where the stations concerned are based. , However, information given to the New Zealand Greyhound Racing Association and, in turn and in good faith, to “The Press” was inaccurate. The station manager of Radio Avon (Mr Noel Wesney) said yesterday that while his station was “quite prepared” to broadcast results of meetings there has been “no suggestion” of any live commentaries. He added it is not possible for private, radio stations to link for sporting events. and. Radio Avon had never promised commentaries on any sort of link. • -- .
