Royal Stuart, fourth (and last). over the gruelling course last year is quoted 40-to-one by the bookies while So and So (which fell at the infamous Bechers Brook last year) is at 66-to-one. of the most highly regarded horses in the string of about 60 New Zealanders competing in the British National Hunt season. A season out with injury in 1979 dampened his prospects after a stunning debut in- Britain, coming third, in the King George VI Chase at Kempton bn Boxing Day, 1978. Trained by Fred Winter in Berkshire, he won eight ’out of nine of his races over jumps in New Zealand and is currently equal fifth favourite with the bookies at 33-to-one.
