Water shortage warning
Lyttelton residents have been warned that they can face a severe .vteter shortage tinless they Voluntarily restrict the watering of lawns and--gardens. </ ■ z The Town Clerk, Mr D. Hillier, Said yesterday that reservoir levels had dropped drastically over the last few warm . days and supplies could, be cut off unless conservation measures were taken.. ’ The.-water could be expected to continue until .the region' received a heavy rainfall. ■ The increased demand" for wafer in the Cashmere -.areacaused by the hot weather has - reduced the level, of water in * the - Heathcote County reservoir, and ■ residents were asked to Conserve water where possible.
