Reports called misleading

Westport reporter The Westport Airport Authority says that reports on the poor patronage of last Thursday’s special Air New Zealand service to Westport are misleading. Air New Zealand put on the flight at the authority’s request to.compensate for the lack of a service on Waitangi Day. However, the authority says that it made the request only a fortnight ago, which left little time for intending passengers to book. The flight was from Wellington to Westport and return, not the normal Wellington r Westport - Hokitika and return service. The authority says the special service helped relieve congestion of West Coast freight at Wellington ahd freight both ways was substantial, greatly increasing the payload.
