Letters to the Editor
(1) Letters submitted tor printing in this column must not exceed 15# words. They should bo written in ink or preferably typed on one side of the paper. Ample spaco must be left in the margins and between lines for subediting marks. (2) Letters written over pen names or Initials will not ordinarily be considered for publication. A legible signature and fuU postal address — not a P. O. Box number — are essential. (S) The correspondent must say whether the letter has been or is to be submitted elsewhere. The Editor does not undertake to acknowledge, hold, return, or enter into correspondence on any letter not accepted for publication. (4) Address letters to the Editor, "The Press." P. O. Box 1005. V.J.W.—Hundreds of other events around the world have not drawn comments. One could contrive some significance to any absence of commentary. A.B.W.—A system is provided—and paid for — to meet peak loads in winter. Excess demand is discouraged by surcharges above certain limits. If seasons could be forecast precisely and capital works reduced or increased, your, hopes might be fulfilled. In practice the plant cannot be dismantled, sold, bought and replaced to suit varying and unpredictable demands from year to year. Supply authorities must estimate for a reasonable maximum demand.
