Fire near plantation
! A fire last evening in the [Waimairi coastal area, off Desert Road, was expected to ' [keep appliances in attendance [ perhaps until dawn today. I said a fire service spokes-! early this morning. The fire was in the same [ place as one on January .16.' The Bottle Lake plantation i was threatened then, but the/ spokesman said that a -new)) firebreak had been cleared by [ bulldozer last evening, and < that the blaze was under control from midnight. ;) Two appliances from New Brighton, a trailer unit from * Sumner, and water tenders , f from Waimairi and theji Christchurch City Council were in attendance. The fire ‘ was reported at 10.02 p.m.
