Lights for officers

Christchurch traffic officers on motor-cycle patrol can now comply with a request the Ministry of Transport made ■ to all ' motor-cycle riders some time ago. The Ministry’s 32 . motor-

cycles in the city are being fitted with twin daytime lights mounted on the indicator lights. Other motor-cyclists have been using headlights by day as an extra safety measure. Traffic -officers - have been unable to. because the use of the headlight as well as

other equipment, such as a radio and sirens, would have been too big a drain on the battery. The two lamps automatically, switch on with the ignition and will not work when the headlight is on. They cost about $32 a set to fit. ' : ;'.
