Baron Philippe de Rothschild presents and narrates a new six-part series telling “The Story of Wine” beginning on Wednesday evening on Network One. Further episodes tell the story of the famous red wines of the Medoc region near Bordeaux in France, “The Great Clarets”; the stories of chamnagne and sherry in “The Great Aneritifs.”; the stories of port and cognac in “The Great Dessert Drinks”; wine connoisseurship in “Bottle Talk”; and a look at the changes that have occurred in the wine trade since the end of the Second Wor'd War with “From a Drink for Generals to a General Drink.” Locations for the series include the Beaujolais, Bordeaux. Champagne, and Cognac districts of France; the Soave and Chianti regions of Italy, the sherry and port areas of Spain and Portugal; the Moselle in Germany; and Switzerland.
