Auckland dominate

PA Nelson Auckland skippers filled three of the first four places in the first race of the New Zealand Finn yachting championships which began off the port of Nelson yesterday afternoon with a fleet of 26. The first race was an Olympic triangle course of 12 miles which started in Tasman Bay in a 12-knot northerly and a moderate sea.

The race finished in a 20knot wind with a lumpy sea, 150 minutes later. Results:— Leith Arnit (Auckland) 1, Bruce Deegan (Auckland) 2, G. Mannering (Napier) 3, Tom Dobson (Auckland) 4. Fred Kempers (Christchurch) 5, Garry Wigg (Napier) 6, Ben Winters (Christchurch) 7, Peter Kempers (Christchurch 8, Peter Nelson (Auckland) 9, Peter Bennett (Nelson) 10.
