Zone tie to Thailand
NZPA-Reuter Bangkok Thailand has won the Dtvis Cup Eastern Zone first round, tie against Malaysia, Picket Boratissa and Son-bat Uamongkol beating Suresh Menon and Rudy Foo, 6-2, 6-2, 6-1, in the -only doubles match of the tournament. , ■ - Thailand won the opening singles matches when Pichet beat Menon, 3-1, and Sombat beat Foo, 3-0. The doubles win gave Thailand an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match competition. Menon is scheduled to meet Sombat and Foo is - matched against Pichet. in the last two singles matches. These may not be played as the tie is already decided.
