Empire marksmen named

PA Wellington New Zealand’s rifle shooting selectors have opted for a combination of experienced marksmen for tomorrow’s Empire Trophy match against Australia. The 12-strong squad to compete at the Seddon Range, Trentham, includes the former national champion Gerald Fuller, of Gisborne, and the current Balling Belt leader, Keith Jacob, of Feilding.

Upper Hutt’s Lindsay Arthur is the only newcomer to the team of seasoned past representatives. Wellington has a strong hand in the women’s team, fielding 10 of the 12 shooters chosen for the event. The increasing involvement of women in rifle shooting is reflected in the under-25 team, which contains five women and one man.
