Australia’s decision to sell uranium directly to the French and allow its conversion to plutonium increased the chance of the world being destroyed for the sake of a “few Iciusy dollars.” the Labour Party has said. The Deputy Opposition leader, Lionel Bowen, said a ban on the unapproved transfer of Austra-! lian uranium and its use ini weapons production would! be impossible to police. Hej said France was anxious to; become the “O.P.E.C. of Europe in the sale of nuclear; fuel” and this would allow| the diversion of Australian,' uranium for weapons pro-! duction. — Canberra.
