Film Unit to help Transglobe
PA Wellington The National Film Unit hits been called in to help the three-man British Transglobe expedition which expects to complete its transAntarctic journey at Scott Base tomorrow.
The expedition has its own film unit but its members are still aboard the support ship Benjamin Bowring which is not expected to arrive at' McMurdo Sound before -the expedition reaches Scott Base.
The National Film Unit has its own film crew in Antarctica working on a documentary for television and it will now film the end of the 1800-mile Antarctic crossing.
The manager of the unit, Mr Douglas Eckhoff, said vesterday that in return for (filming the end of the crossing the expedition would supply the unit with some footage from the South Pole for the New Zealand documentary series.
The New Zealand unit in Antarctica? includes a director, Lynton Diggle; cameraman, Bailey Watson; an assistant cameraman, Ivars Berzins; and a sound technician, David Keane.
