Remuera setting for horior film
PA Wellington The Auckland suburb of Remuera has been named as the venue for the shooting of an American horror movie. A Wellington producer, John Barnett, has said that the wealthy suburb would double as somewhere staid, sunny, and non-specif-ic in the Mid-Western United States for the sake of the film, “Shadow Land.”
It is about a succession of grisly deaths that unsettle a quiet community, with the spectre of macabre experiments at the local university. It will star the American actors, Michael Murphy and Louise Fletcher. The Auckland merchant bankers, Faye Richwhite, involved in financing Barnett’s film about Mr Arthur Thomas, “Beyond Reasonable Doubt?” had co-ordinated the funding for “Shadow Land,” and most of the profits would flow back to New Zealand. One of the 44 main parts has gone to the actress. Beryl Te Wiata, widow of the opera singer and carver, Inia Te Wiata.
