Forestry planning

PA Wellington Two conferences centring on land development options will be held this year, the Minister of Lands (Mr V. S. Young) has announced. The Forestry Development conferences in March and September would have a significant impact on Government planning for forest establishment in the next 20 years, he said. A National Land Use conference to be held in

late March would consider the wider spectrum of land use decisions and would report to the Government on such matters as urban sprawl and conservation, he said. Mr Young said, the conference would also make recommendations on the intensification of land use through traditional farming or horticulture and report on the production potential of non-farmable land for forestry or other uses.
