I Cup incident The fall of Eruption, afterabout 200 m in the Auckland Cup i yesterday was found to have been through Northfleet moving over towards the running rail, 1 outside Drum, Blue Rule, Arethusa and Bold Display. In -that line of horses, tightening occurred, causing Blue Rula and Arethusa, and in turn, Decibel, to drop back sharply,, and the resultant effect on other horses finally led to the fall of Eruption. A charge of careless riding was i preferred against Noel Harris, ' the rider of Northfleet. • After considering evidence and viewing a film of the incident the judicial committee established that although Eruption’s fall was caused by the effect of a tightly packed field, with the Ip-ace not strong and several 1 riders seeking positions, there [ was a strong element of doubt as jto whether Harris was responsible. Accordingly, the charge . was dismissed.
