Miles Better looks capable of winning the Waikouaiti Cup
By
J. J. Boyle
Miles Better is expected to spearhead a strong Riccarton challenge for Waikouaiti Cup honours tomorrow.
; He should be better, if j anything, for his placed run ibehind Candyboy and The Clippie in the Dunedin Gold Cup last week. Blue Sage, Star Order, Dolrnar arid Pennianne are other Riccarton-trained hopefuls.-
Pennianne has her limitations when the tracks firm up, but she could be the stumbling block for all the others if it comes up wet. Flying Ribot, a good third at Riccarton at his last start will be a strong South Canterbury hope. Otago’s best vzill probably be Her Greatest, which will find a handicap race over a middle distance more to her liking than her most recent assignment —1600 m at weight-for-age in the Coruba Stakes at Riccarton.
Ta Tay, a son of Noble Bijou from the Brian Anderton stable, looks capable of outstaying the other three-year-olds in The Blue Riband, second leg of the T.A.B. double. The fields are: RACE 1
