6.00: THE GOSSAMER ALBATROSS. This film traces the remarkable flight of a man-powered aircraft across the English Channel in 1979. (Repeat).
7.00: CORONATION STREET. Eddie Yeats needs to acquire more cash before heading to London. 7.30: THAT WAS 1980, SPORT. The Television New Zealand sports team reviews the sporting highlights of the year. 8.25: “SPARTACUS.” (Film, Universal, 1960). A superb, star-studded epic about a gladiator’s heroic revolt against the Roman Empire. The lavish and thrilling spectacle stars Kirk Douglas. 7.00: THE MUPPET SHOW. The Muppets meet the stars of “Star Wars.”

10.00: NEWS. 10.10: PETROCELLI. Petrocelli defends a young hitch-hiker charged with the rape and murder of a woman found dead in the desert. 11.00: THE BARRY HUMPHRIES SPECIAL. Light entertainment with Barrv Humphries, the legendary Dame Edna Everage, and Joan Bakewell. 11.50: NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY. Television New Zealand farewells the old year and welcomes the new.

8.00: “TORA! TORA! TORA!” (Film, 20th Century-Fox, 1970). A spectacular and expensive re-enact-ment of the events leading up to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour in December, 1941. Starring Martin Balsam, Joseph Cotten, E. G. Marshall.
7.00: SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN. Aliens intent on plundering Earth programme the giant Big Foot to steal gold and jewels. (Part one of a two-part story). 8.00: ROSIE. Constable Penrose is affected by the friction between the CID and the uniform branch. 8.30: BERT D’ANGELO SUPERSTAR. A new American detective series about a toUgh, ex-New York cop who makes an impact in San Francisco. In tonight’s episode he uncovers shocking evidence about the murder of an unknown woman.
