Pre-school accidents surveyed
Wellington reporter The Plunket Society and the Accident Compensation Commission are running a two-stage survey of domestic accidents suffered by pre-school children in South, Auckland. During the period April to September, as the first istage, all domestic accidents to pre-school children were investigated. Parents and guardians of accident victims were interviewed using a standard questionnaire, and the most serious accidents received special attention. For the second stage, methods of intervention will be introduced and tested. The intention is to measure the effectiveness of various forms of communication in raising standards of safety awareness and practice in thshome.
