The Pope disclosed his intentions, during separate off-the-record audiences with two recent visitors, the magazine said. The magazine added that both visitors, one a French diplomat, feel the 1 Pope has told the Soviet Union of his intentions. The diplomat, who ‘ was "not! named, told “Newsweek” that the prospect of having the Pope in Poland could account for the Kremlin’s caution in handling the Polish situation. — New York. Landslide kills 111 At least 111 people have died in a huge landslide that demolished about 500 houses in Talaga, 200 km east of Jakarta, .in Indonesia, local officials have said. The landslide struck last Friday evening, but bad communications with the area delayed rescue operations until yesterday. : Hundreds of policemen and soldiers who reached the. area yesterday had recovered 111 bodies. At least 60 people are still missing, according to the large circulation “Kompas” newspaper. Continuous rain in the area banked up pockets of water on the slopes of 3078 m Mt Ceremai. Under mounting pressure thousands of tonnes of water and mud crashed down the slope wiping out the villages below, it said. — Jakarta.
