Reward not in dispute

The reward for the recovery of a Blenheim woman’s valuable rings was not in dispute, said the woman’s husband, Mr S. A. Waldron, yesterday. Mr Waldron said he would travel to Christchurch as soon as possible to discuss the reward with the man, who found the rings with a metal detector. Mrs M. M. Waldron lost the rings during a roadside stop between Hinds and Rangitata on December 19. A search proved fruitless and the loss was advertised. A Christchurch man offered to search for the rings with a metal detector and subsequently found them not far from where the Waldrons’ car had been parked. Mr Waldron said a reward of 10 per cent of the value of the rings had been agreed on before the search. The latest valuation of the rings said they were worth between $4500 and $5OOO. “Discussions over the reward have been quite amicable. I will show the man the valuation,” said Mr Waldron.
