P.M, rejects apricots and trout
PA Dunedin Gifts of first-of-season apricots from the Cromwell Gorge and a trout from the Ahuriri River were sent away bv the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) after they were delivered to him at his Auckland holiday home yesterday afternoon. J The Newcastle apricots and the 2.3 kg trout were delivered to Mr Muldoon’s address at Hatfield's Beach soon after 3 p.m. as gifts of Ecology Action Otago. An accompanying letter explained that the apricots were from the “dam threatened Cromwell. Gorge, grown on the highest quality land in a unique frost free climate, ripening some two weeks earlier than the main crop.” • The trout was caught in
the “dam threatened AhuririJ River.” The secretary of Ecology 1 * Action Otago, Mrs Molly bert, said last evening that- 1 she believed that Mr Mul<J doon received the presehtO when they were delivered by 4 courier, but then sent them J away again saying he was J “not-interested.” Mrs Colbert said she <was'’i not disappointed that they’ s were sent away and was hov| concerned; about his com<‘ ments.
