Meat testing satisfies U.S.
New Zealand’s programme for the control of chemical residues in food animals has been approved by the United States Department of Agriculture after inspection by a three-man American team. The-team reviewed the Ministry of Agriculture’s ability to control residues in.. food animals. ... . , < ..
The team had accepted that the Ministry had the regulatory, laboratory, and practical controls. necessary to ensure that danger to public health from chemical
residues in animals was negligible, said Mr Alan Royal, an assistant director of the Meat Division of the Ministry. The Ministry also had been able to demonstrate that it had the ability to identify and trace back animals submitted for slaughter to the farm of origin. Many countries could not do this and so could not adequately identify the source of potential food-borne residue problems.
