Edwards’s knock was the backbone of the Central innings as most-of the other middle and lower-order batsmen struggled to score freely against the Northern slow bowlinprattack of Paul Curtin and. the ;star, of .the match, Dickeson. 1
The left-arm spinner, Dickeson, had much to do with limiting Central's first innings lead to 22. He bowled a massive- 44 overs and shut out Central with 17 maidens as he contained the Central batsmen particularly
in a fine spell of controlled howling just after lunch. ~ . Jones ’ and ' Pierce both looked bound for big scores when they resumed their innings yesterday morning. But they added only 11 runs to their,overnight total of 67 before Jones'fell to Dickeson for 38.
