Rosewood Charger likely in Reefton Cup

The Westport winner Rosewood Charger, although badly drawn, looks like the horse to beat in the Reefton Cup, first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Reefton Trotting Club’s meeting today. Unlucky on the first day at Westport when held up for a run, the Good Chase mare improved on that second and won impressively on Saturday. Elrana has won his last two in a row arid rates a good chance while The Sting, which was given every opportunity at his Westport appearances, will ensure there will be no loitering. Young Beau would need luck in the running from 20m behind but he did win convincingly at Westport. • • The trainer, Reg Curtin, has opted to run his star filly, Up Tempo, in the second leg of the double, the Bill Craddock Memorial, and; he rates her very highly. Up Tempo looks a top chance with Rachael Maria, an unlucky third at Westport, Rival Time and Onedin Star other leading contenders.

Take Aim, the centre of some strong on-course support when third on Saturday, will also rate consideration. Selections:—
