Body found in river

PA Queenstown The Queenstown police have found the body of a jetboat driver missing in the Kawarau River since December 16. He was William Stuart Clark, aged 30, of Queenstown, whose boat overturned in rapids during preparations for filming on the river. The body was found in an eddy in the river just above Nevis Bluff during

a helicopter search of the river on Saturday. Sergeant W. W. Malo a ney said that the body had been taken to Invercargill for a post-mortem examination. An inquest would be held early next year. Mr Clark and three companions were making a run up river when the boat cartwheeled into a pressure wave at the bottom of a rapid. The three other persons in the boat reached the bank but Mr Clark disappeared’. None of the occupants of the

boat was wearing a life-* jacket. I An investigation has been made by the Marine Division of the Ministry of Transport. Mr Clark was practising for a filming sequence for “Race to the Yankee Zephyr” which is being filmed on location in the Queenstown district.
