Disaster used in TV commercial
Sir, —- I join with John Leslie and your other corres-
pondents (December 26) in condemning the television advertisement for a certain brand of ice-cream. Not only is that advertisement stupid, reprehensible and in the worst taste but it is surely also a slur on and an insult to shipmasters and ships’ officers in general. The advertisement should be withdrawn and a public apology from the manufacturers and others responsible for the advertisement screened in its stead. — Yours, etc., EDWARD DAY. December 26, 1980.
