$5M export order for N.Z. firm
PA Wellington An export order worth $5 million for the supply of equipment for a hydroelectric project in Papua New Guinea has been won by a New Zealand firm, A.S.E.A. Electric (N.Z.), Ltd, its managing director, Mr M. Louden has announced. The Warangoi project in Papua New Guinea will provide electricity in the Rabaul area which at present has only diesel power. The contract provides for the supply of two 6.25mva hydro generators with ancillary equipment, and includes penstocks, turbines, generators, switchgear, and control gear. Although the firm has previously exported parts from its own manufacturing plant, this was the company’s first big project export order, Mr Louden said.
